Nell Mitchell (b. 1998) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in East London, whose diary-like and confessional practice uses humour in which to convey very real emotions. Having graduated from The Glasgow School of Art in 2020, Nell aims to create work that is both comically relatable and deeply personal by viewing each individual piece of work as a window to the soul. She finds that using lightheartedness in her paintings allows her to present herself unapologetically through a piece of work. 

Nell continues to build and grow alongside her practice, through depicting scenes from her life, she provides insight on her day to day moments. She does this in the hope of her chaotic compositions and bold colour palette evoking joy in the viewer as well as providing a sense of total vulnerability. Ultimately, Mitchell’s goal is to create simple and relatable work that speaks for itself, with the hope that it can provide comfort, solace and laughter to a wide variety of people.
