Emily Wilcock

Emily Wilcock lives and works in London after studying Painting at Camberwell College of Arts. Her paintings are informed by a phenomenological approach to her lived experiences. Through expressive gestural drawings and formal abstraction, the subjects in her work become animated within the tactile materiality of the paint. Colour and the transitory nature of a pose or gesture are combined to move away from absolutes and any concrete presence, and instead emphasise a state of being that hovers within the frame.
