Danying Chen

Danying Chen graduated from Camberwell College of the Arts in 2021 with a BA degree in

Painting and most recently completed her MA Painting degree. She primarily works with acrylics to achieve realistic paintings. Danying immigrated to the UK with her parents from Fujian, China and now lives in London. She uses her personal experience of the culture clash between the two environments as inspiration for some of her work, as well as drawing inspiration from her own views of life and culturally significant objects from her childhood. In her work she explores what it means to be a female artist and challenges the gaze of female identity in patriarchal societies with a focus on East and West.
