Agrin Lotfollahzadeh
Agrin Lotfollahzadeh is a painter and art teacher from Tehran. She obtained her Master's degree from Soore University in 2016, with a research focus on Kurdish women in art history. Her paintings are focussed on documented history and the prescence of Kurdish women in conflict. Agrin has participated in group and solo shows in Iran, Iraq, the United States and France.
In Agrin's series 'The Eternal Secrets', questions of eternal life and the immortality of the soul are a principal theme, represented by the shadows and unveiling seen in her portraiture. These are both literal and metaphorical. Her work alludes to the classical poetry of Omar Khayyám, who wrote of the eternal:
'The answer to perpetuity neither you know nor I;
The solution to life's enigma neither you know nor I.
Beneath the curtain stand bantering you and I;
But when the curtain falls, neither you remain nor I.'
