Julie Caves is a London and Margate based artist and curator. She has a BFA from the University of Texas, an MA from Camberwell College of Art, completed an Erasmus term in Valencia, Spain, and most recently completed the 2-year Turps Studio Painting Programme in 2019. She has a certificate in Independent Curating from Central St Martins. She was shortlisted for two prizes in 2019: The Delphian Prize and the Exceptional Award. She curated a painting exhibition, ‘Waving in the Distance’, at Terrace Gallery in London in 2020. She had a solo show ‘Lost in the Woods’ at The Stone Space gallery in London in 2021. She has exhibited in many group exhibitions in London.
Julie Caves is interested in looking at the things around her so she often paints interiors (that she calls roomscapes), still lives, windows, and closely cropped views of her daily life. She is interested in sunlit spaces and suggested, ambiguous objects.
