Caroline Cornelius
Caroline Cornelius trained at the Chelsea School of Art and then studied Fashion and Printed Textiles (BH Hons) at Brighton University. Cornelius’s artworks have been selected for “Figurative Art Now” Federation of British Artists exhibition, Mall Galleries 2021 and selected for the Royal Academy Summer Show 2021.
In her work she draws upon her past experiences as a textile designer, searching for incidental patterns and using a limited colour palette to simplify and stylise images. Her work is an exploration of the female form captured in intimate scenes from personal experience. She uses the medium of watercolour to create an ethereal softness in the imagery, often blocking out the background with more solid acrylic paint to form dynamic edges between the figure and its setting.
