Rebecca Gilpin is a London-based abstract artist who graduated from Oxford Brookes university with BA and MA degrees in Fine Art (2018-2019). She specialises in large-scale paintings created through the process of staining unprimed canvas with acrylic and water. She is inspired by chance and unpredictability when creating her work, hence the choice of water as a medium.
Her work is an extended exploration on life and her instinctive response to it. Gilpin utilises the grandeur of size of her large-scale work to hold her viewer’s gaze, causing them to pause and wonder in contemplation away from the noise of everyday life. Her work has been sold to collectors in the USA, Mexico and throughout Europe.
