Henry Ward
Henry Ward is an artist, writer, curator, and educator based in London. He graduated from Winchester School of Art with a BA in Fine Art in 1993 and went on to do a PhD at Middlesex University in 2013. He works instinctively and primarily works with paint as a central medium.
He is interested in exploring the language of paint by investigating the threshold between abstraction and representation. He was shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize in 2018 and 2019 and longlisted for the Contemporary British Painting Prize 2021. The first substantial publication about his work ‘Shed Paintings – Henry Ward’ was published in February 2021 by Hato Press and features 101 works on paper and a new essay by Ben Street.
